When Did I Conceive?

When Did I Conceive?

So, you’re pregnant. Now you may be wondering—when exactly did you conceive, and how can you be sure about who the father is? Need answers today? You can connect with a nurse for free at (385) 483-3227.

What Date Did I Conceive?

Pinpointing the exact moment of conception isn’t an exact science. Unlike a menstrual period, which follows a set schedule, conception depends on timing, cycles, and a few biological factors. Still, there are reliable ways to estimate when conception likely happened.

No matter if you’re two weeks or twenty weeks into your pregnancy, a bit of math can help you make an educated guess about when conception occurred.

Most people ovulate—the time when pregnancy can happen—during a two-to-three-day window each cycle. This usually takes place about two weeks after your last period begins.

Conception Date Calculator

By counting forward from the first day of your last period, you can estimate when ovulation occurred, and from there, when conception likely happened.

If calculating by hand feels confusing, you can reach out to us at (385) 483-3227, and we can help walk you through it.

Keep in mind: this is just an estimate. Every woman’s cycle is unique. Some ovulate earlier or later, and the length of ovulation can vary.

It’s also important to note that sperm can live inside the body for up to five days.¹ ² This means that sex before ovulation can still result in conception if sperm remains active until the egg is released.

Conception Date from Ultrasound

An ultrasound is another way to get a clearer idea of when conception took place. Because fetal growth usually follows a predictable pattern, ultrasounds allow medical professionals to measure the fetus and estimate how far along the pregnancy is.

Beyond providing a date range for conception, an ultrasound can also confirm that the pregnancy is viable, ruling out complications such as miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy

While ultrasounds are available at most OB/GYN offices, these visits often involve insurance and billing. Charis Pregnancy Clinic may be able to provide free ultrasounds in a supportive environment without the added paperwork.
